Well, our club finally set up a run to Katempcy Rock for our April ride.
Holly and I were really excited to go. It was our first wheelin / camping weekend for quite some time. Unfortunately, an hour into the first day, I attempted to climb the granite wall right out of the creek and take my word for it, wet tires on solid granite are VERY slippery!!
The Jeep spun a tire and lost all traction, the front slid sideways and we had a crossways ride

back down the rock till we reached the bottom and flipped back into the creek.
Well, I laid in the water while Holly hung from her seatbelt for a few minutes

till the guys winched us back upright, and other from the bent windshield frame, the crushed drivers door and the dent in the cowel, I really didn't see a lot of REAL damage.
We pulled what was left of the windshield out and continued on and had a blast the rest of the day, but headed home Sunday at noon when it began to rain. The ride home was an adventure in itself with rain, the butterflies and no windshield for the 200 mile ride.
Well, all that was 7 weeks ago today and it is still in the body shop.

I should get it back this next week but I would have never guessed what has been repaired.
Besides the obvious windshield frame, door and cowel...they replaced the WHOLE left side of the body and the hood. The best thing out of the whole deal is that I did get them to get me the AEV hood I have been wanting for quite awhile.

I just don't think I would have chosen this as the best way to get it!!

Well, the holidays are behind us now so it's time to get back to business. Preparing to WHEEL!
A few of us from our club were supposed to go to the Gilmer 4x4 park over the New Year week end, but bad weather put the kabosh on that trip.
Next week we have our club meeting to nominate the '07 officers. I have enjoyed my two year stint as VP and then President, but am looking forward to stepping back and just getting into to the real fun of playing.
I plan on doing some more work to the Rubi this year. Last summer I did the 6" lift and moved up to 35's, but now I really need to work on the gearing. I'll probably go to 4.56 gears, add long arms to the lift, open up the air intake, and upgrade the chip.
I also hope to start on the '46 Willys my sons and I bought last year. The 2 older ones are Marines, and want me to wait till they can get in on the fun. One will be back from Iraq sometime in March and home the end of July if he doesn't decide to go another round, so hope to start the tear down and get ready for the rebuild.
Well, there in a nutshell are my plans for the coming year. Sounds like a lot of fun doesn't it??
